Lion Harold was born in Dayton, Ohio to George
(deceased) and Thelma Yost, being the oldest of five children with four sisters.
The family tenant farm included dairy, hog and beef production.
Harold graduated from Lanier Twp School. After a year of farming on his own he
enlisted in the Air Force. After serving his four and half years in Korea,

Foundry a producer of cast steel wheels for heavy trucks. After being promoted
to the Industrial Engineering Department he was encouraged to return to school.
Entering the University of Dayton, he started his fifteen year endeavor to
obtain a degree in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin in 1978.
After interviewing with Texas Foundries in December of 1971, Harold accepted a
job offer and moved to Texas in January of 1972, retiring in 2005 after 33 years
of service in the Industrial Engineering and production supervision positions.
Harold’s first involvement in civic organizations was with the Lufkin Jaycees.
When “roostered out” in 1974 a neighbor invited him to the Lufkin Evening Lions
Club. He has also served as a 4H advisor, Band Booster president and exchange
student sponsor.
